Program note

Composed in the summer of 2024, Piano Trio treats its structural motifs with subtlety despite a romantic, often grand scale. A cyclical exchange between simple and compound meters drives the narrative toward a climactic restatement of the opening theme. Twin melodic ideas frame the work, and intricate contrapuntal writing—especially a canonic dialogue between violin and cello—ties the movements together.
