Program note

Although I often write short piano character pieces, this was my first attempt at a full baroque dance suite. Each movement reflects its historical model: the sarabande is slow and noble, the gigue is lively in compound meter, and the minuet is quiet and stately. The closing sonata pays tribute to Domenico Scarlatti and his keyboard language.
