Program note

Composed in fall 2023, Three Melodic Pieces are short character works in the tradition of the vocalise. Each movement follows the contour of the human voice without strictly imitating it. Rather than relying on shared thematic material, the pieces function as individual portraits: "Todunglücklich" evokes late romantic heartbreak, "Clapham Common" paints the famous London park, and "Scherzo" concludes the set with virtuoso flair.
